Why recycle electronics?

E-waste is one of the worst pollutant and toxic waste that humans currently emit. Amongst the list of hazardous substances contained within e-waste are: mercury, lead, americium, sulfur, PCB, cadmium and beryllium oxide. We should all recycle electronic because if we don’t, it get dumped with general household wastes and contaminate the whole environment.  By dumping electronic, not only do you contaminate the environment, you also intoxicate your children who will eventually be forced to drink water and breathe air that will get more and more contaminated.

Where to recycle electronics?

Avoid at all cost to recycle through companies that ship their material to third world countries. Make sure the company you deal with has good records, is certified by industry associations. If you decide to deal with a company that has no accreditation, chances are that they export to China or other parts of the world and don’t do a clean recycling.

What is wrong with sending e-waste to third world countries?

The problem with third world countries is their lack of proper technology and resources to properly dispose of the pollutants. They will extract all material that is financially wise to extract, but will improperly dispose of the remaining toxics. On top of seriously injuring people and exploiting children working into slavery-like condition with no consideration to their health, wrongly disposing of the chemicals contained within electronic will affect the whole ecosystem and will impact our local wildlife as well. For example, mercury improperly disposed in China today can show in Montreal within a few months (through the wind and rain).

Why choose PC Recycle to recycle electronics?

PC Recycle has kept a spotless record since its foundation in 1994. The company does not export any electronic waste and keeps itself above all laws regarding the end of life of those materials.  PC. Recycle is accredited by the Canadian Association of Recycling Industries and can, as such, emit certificates that will truly tells you what happens to your material after you send it or have it picked up by PC Recycle.  The company abides by the Basel convention and decision c(2001)107 of the OECD convention. PC. Recycle is truly the best environmental choice you can make, for your health, for your children and the environment.
